Fun, relaxed neighborhood bar
This is my kind of bar. Friendly, unpretentious, diverse crowd, reasonably priced drinks. This is the only gay bar in the downtown area, and as it turned out was only 3 blocks from my hotel. It was a great place to unwind on my own after a work conference. I will come back next time I'm in Milwaukee!
A must for gay His/herstorians on MKE's LGBT scene plus a block or from Elsa'a and Taylors!
Was It Something I Did?
NO STARS would be the most appropriate rating.
Apparently being older than 29 negates the possibility of being greeted, served or acknowledged at "This Is It." I went there on Thursday night at approximately 7:00 PM. There were many people in their twenties present at the bar, many females, and a bartender who would not acknowledge me or take an order for a bottle of beer. After standing at the bar unacknowledged for approximately six minutes, I simply left. I'm shocked that this is how a bar of any kind in Milwaukee, much less an advertised gay bar, treats a customer. If you are looking for the worst gay bar in Milwaukee, then This Is It.
like you stepped into the 60's
That's actually a good thing. Very cute space. Very retro. Good jukebox. Nice people. Enjoy!
I was really hoping....
I was really hoping that the online reviews of "This Is It" were true...older men! Unfortunately, the night I went in, the clientel were all in their 20's. Being in your 20's is wonderful! Unfortunately, I'm in my 40's and could not get a drink from the 20-something bartender. He was too busy talking with all of his friends...and texting.
Could use an update
Old fashioned neighborhood bar, right downtown Milwaukee. I've tried it a couple of times for a drink after dinner at one of the great restaurants in the area. My last visit found a 'bartender' that didn't know anything about making a drink. Didn't know what Jameson was, and just didn't really have a customer service attitude. I get the hunch the regulars like the place and maybe if you become a regular here you'd love it, but for someone from out of town looking for a welcoming smile and drink, this is not the place.
good place for the first drink.....you don't want to stay long..gets tired
Great place
I have not been there in awhile because of moving out of town. But when back remember Joe. He helped me through some tough times. I also like the warm atmosphere. Love the jukebox.
It's like being at a really bad play!!
Drama, drama, drama...You sit at one end of the bar and the older bartender bitches and talks about the younger bartender. Sit at the other end and the young guy ignores everyone except his close friends. Sit in the middle and forget it.......you will never get served. Hire some guys that get along!!
